About the owner
Welcome to Bird Dog! I'm Lucas Davison, the owner and operator of Bird Dog Welding LLC. My passion for welding started in high school when I took a machining/welding class in my hometown of Maquoketa, Iowa. I saw all the possibilities metal fabrication had to offer, and I decided to join Local 89 Ironworkers in Cedar Rapids right out of school, where I spent 8 years erecting buildings, bridges, and wind turbines. During this time, I also acquired multiple certifications, including OSHA 30, post-tensioning, and four American Welding Society certifications. After leaving the Ironworkers, I got a job with a well-known door company, welding specialty doors for military bases, airports, and bomb factories. While working for them, I began acquiring tools and the knowledge needed to start Bird Dog Welding.
